Children with Down Syndrome usually live up to 60 years in developed countries. This is due to the medical and social support which they get. Their society is sensitive as well as rich to support such children. 

Building such support mechanisms in India is challenging.

As far as medical treatment is concerned, the patient needs multi-specialty coordinated care. A stand-alone pediatrician would not be sufficient to take care of a child's needs. This is available in some dedicated centers only.
