Five Simple Ways To Prevent Blindness
1. Low vision at night or in poor light is called night blindness. This occurs due to deficiency of Vitamin A. This can be avoided by consuming a balanced diet rich in fruits, and vegetables. Young children who usually don't take a balanced diet can be given six-monthly doses of Vitamin A at the government health centers to prevent its deficiency.2. Excessive strain to eyes should be avoided. Colored Goggles can be used to prevent exposure to bright lights especially if it is related to one's job.
3. If you have been prescribed spectacles then use them as directed.
4. People with dry eyes should blink their eyes often and may use medicated teardrops after discussion with eye specialists.
5. People having Diabetes, Hypertension, etc. should control their disease to prevent damage to eyes and vision. They should also periodically meet an eye specialist.
